Concept mapping is an innovative, critical-thinking approach to planning patient care. It is also referred to as "cognitive mapping" or "mind mapping." The overall instructional goal of this tutorial is to help nurses use concept maps to think more critically and to plan safer and more effective patient care.
This online tutorial is intended for current practitioners and students of the nursing profession who wish to learn more about concept mapping and how it can be used to stimulate creative critical thinking. In addition, the tutorial includes many clinical examples that demonstrate how concept mapping is used to facilitate the best possible nursing interventions.
The tutorial is divided into six modules. The first five are instructional units. The final module is a test bank.
Test results are displayed at the end of each test including the number correct, the number incorrect, the percentage correct, and the correct answers accompanied by rationales. Test scores are stored in databases on the EDGT server for later instructor or student retrieval and review.
