Unit 4: Legal Aspects
As the number and kinds of drugs grew, it became evident that legislation was necessary to protect the public from unreliable and unsafe drugs.

Now, in many countries, the development, manufacture, and sale of drugs are controlled by laws.
In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration -- the FDA -- is granted the power to enforce some of the laws, while the Drug Enforcement Administration -- the DEA -- enforces those dealing with narcotics and controlled substances.

In Canada, Health Canada is the department of government responsible for administering the nation's drug laws.
